UP to faculty, staff and leaders at Laramie County Community College for eliminating 20 associate’s degree programs and suspending 14 others.

LCCC President Joe Schaffer said the decision was the result of several factors, including low enrollments, low completion rates and the lack of alignment of some programs with four-year degree pathways. And if Mr. Schaffer and other college officials are right, it should mean better use of faculty resources, more streamlined paths for students seeking four-year degrees and more class offerings that lead to living-wage jobs.
