As a very patriotic citizen, I am appalled by the lack of respect for the flag shown by the employees of the Eighth Avenue post office. Many days, the flag is never flown. This has been going on for several years.
I have been given excuses such as "I didn't get to work first today" or "It might rain, and we don't have a way to dry it out."
I even contacted Sen. John Barrasso's office, and they assured me that this would be taken care of. I believe they have tried, but to no avail.
I feel the flag is a symbol of our strength and courage and represents freedom. That these employees make a very good wage and get a very good retirement, but don't respect our flag enough to make it a priority to fly is inconceivable to me.
Also, many times when it should be at half-staff, it is flown at full-staff.
I can't believe that all the Air National Guard employees and veterans that use this post office would not notice the flag is missing. Is something wrong with me?
