CHEYENNE – A Cheyenne woman’s body was found Saturday afternoon south of Cody and west of Wyoming Highway 120 South.

Angela Elizondo, 40, was found dead and was likely killed in Cheyenne before her body was disposed of in Cody, according to a news release from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

Joseph Underwood, 45, is suspected of being involved in the case in connection with the murder. He is being held on $1 million bail for charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, fleeing or attempting to elude police, two counts of interference with a peace officer and mutilating or disposing of a human body.

Elizondo’s body was found by a hunter, Marty Dupertuis, after he saw tire tracks in the snow in a nonmotorized vehicle area, according to Cody Enterprise reporting. He then followed the tracks and found the body wrapped, bound and almost completely covered.

Dupertuis told the Cody Enterprise on Sunday that he was pretty “shaken up” from finding the body, and said he never thought he would see something like this.

After finding the body, he immediately informed the Park County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday afternoon. The department has turned over the investigation to DCI.

The Cody Enterprise contributed to this report. More details on this case will be published in Thursday’s Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
